These two-month long field studies in the Sierra Nevada, Colorado Plateau, and Hawaiian Islands were designed and conducted so that each student would create three learning projects, one for each of the three classes that comprised the program. Students were given direction on how to organize and research their chosen projects and were evaluated on the results of their work.

Projects created in the field under a wide variety of conditions, over 2-months, required us to focus on the chosen goals of our projects.
Meanwhile, the “tribal” journey with 10 or more other people required that we also gaze outward and embrace each other and the local surroundings.
